A listed company in the tourism industry based in the US retained Asia Waypoint to conduct in-dept market research into the Chinese OTA (Online Travel Agency) landscape.

In a first project phase, Asia Waypoint researched the market share, positioning, strengths and weaknesses of a dozen Chinese and foreign companies selling hotel inventory B2C in China by conducting face to face interviews with industry insiders, customer surveys and by analyzing data. The findings were summarized in a concise, professional research report tailor-made to address our client´s specific questions.

In a second project phase, Asia Waypoint conducted due diligence of a specific company in the Chinese tourism industry that our client had identified as a M&A target. Our researchers talked to current and former employees, business partners, competitors and other stakeholders knowledgeable about the company, checked legal and commercial documents, and Asia Waypoint delivered a second tailor-made report that was presented to the US company´s board prior to the investment decision.
